Amazonite is a beautiful blue-green gemstone that often reminds people of the colors of our Canadian Rocky Mountain lakes or of tropical oceans.  It is found in both massive and crystal formations. Our main Canadian source of amazonite is in Quebec, near Montreal. The stone is also found in the United States, China and other parts of the world. Amazonite is believed to have adorned the shields of the Amazonian, a tribe of female warriors from the 10th century B.C. 

The quartz stone family is extremely large and varied. Some of the more famous members include amethyst (purple quartz), citrine (yellow quartz), smoky quartz (black), rutilated quartz (quartzes with other minerals growing inside them), as well as all the various agates and jaspers.  Quartz may be found worldwide including many Canadian locations. Clear Quartz is often found in crystal form and is the most often sought after for its healing or crystal properties.
